Summer has officially kicked off at our house. The kids are done with school, the pool is ready and the 80 degree days are appearing steadily. Yeah! I love summer. Give me sunshine. Give me heat. I love it. The hotter the better. I hate when people constantly moan about the weather. We live in Ohio. You know what the alternative is. Rain or snow. I think we've had PLENTY of both lately!
Still sick. Doctor is confused. I kind of think I have some weird respiratory virus thingy. Now along with the incessant cough I have sinus congestion. I haven't been able to taste or smell for a week. It sucks! Although, on the bright side, maybe I'll drop a few pounds with the lack of appetite!!!
Hubs is starting boat patrol again. He works at a private lake community during the summer. These yahoos think it's perfectly ok to get hammered, put their children on tubes and then try to drive the boat really fast. Think money can buy new children? The old head sheriff would never let the boat patrol stop anyone from wrong doing. He retired and the new head sheriff is all for busting them. She"s a lady cop with an attitude. Lucky for us she only does boats! The Hubs likes this because he can be on the water during the day and he takes his fishing poles and throws his line in during down times. This sucks for us because about all our weekends during summer months are spoken for now. We have weddings to attend, weddings to be a part of, our anniversary, fishing tournaments for the Hubs, a baby shower to plan for the sister in law, and our normal work weekends. That's ok though, as long as it's warm!
Have to come up with some day trips to do with the kids to keep them occupied this summer. We are taking them to the Cleveland Zoo someday soon, early June. Last time we were there my eaight year old was a baby and the little man was a "bun in the oven" so to speak. I'd like to spend the day at Wildwater Kingdom too but will have to investigate further as to what all they offer for younger kids. We've talked about renting tubes and meandering down the Tusc river and the kids are begging to camp. Not so excited about camping but hey...maybe I can talk them into sleeping on the trampoline in the back yard and call that camping! God, I love summer!!!

I realized today that I have not logged into Blogger in quite a while. Our days have been a blur of work and softball/baseball games, along with a little sleep thrown in for good measure!
Got diagnosed with Asthma on Monday after coughing for two weeks and repeatedly asking my Hubs to crack my back. It hurt. Constantly. The Doc walked in and said "I know what I think it is but let me listen just to be sure." Like him, I just thought I had bronchitis. Well he put the stethoscope down and said "That's definately not what I expected." Um, care to elaborate please? He went on about seasonal allergies blah blah blah. I don't have em'. Never did. Guess what? Still don't. He really hesitated to say Asthma but once he did the pieces came together. Family history...check. Son with asthma...check. I started the inhaler and that BIG HUGE TIGHT BALL lodged in my back and chest dissipated. It's that easy? For now it is. Let's hope I remain in the mild stage forever.
The weather here in Ohio has sucked lately. You never know what you are going to wake up to. Guess what folks. It's tornado season. Loosely translated, it means I have a bed in the basement with flashlight, water and emergency radio. Like most dogs, I need medicated at the first sign of a storm. I have always been this pathetic. Windy? I pace. Lightning? My palms sweat. Tornado watch? Palpitations. Seriously. I always act like I'm surprised every spring when we go through this. I've lived her my entire damn life. Hello. Spring=Storm. My kids think it's hilarious. Brats!
Ball season is in full swing now too. My daughter's team is falling apart. We had a game tonight and our coach and his wife got into a fight over a call and the wife slammed the score book down and left the game. She's really not my favorite person in life but this really pushed me over the edge. Keep your personal life away from my child. She tried to say our eight year old girls could not use the restroom during a game. Excuse me? Who are you to say that? Seriously, let the power trip go. It's ball. Let them enjoy it. Control your own child. Fight with your husband at home. As a matter of fact, stay home! It wouldn't offend most parents either.
Hope the weekend comes fast. I need a rest!

A day with the Hubs on the boat. The "real" only reason he takes me is to take pictures of his guppies. Fishing is the "other woman" in my house! We went out last Thursday when it was 80 degrees and this is just what I snapped with the camera on my phone.
The first one, the tree just looked so pretty and lush I couldn't resist. I imagine it's beautiful when fully blooming. The rest are the hubs doing what he loves best.

Just a little funny to brighten a day.
Went to my most favoritest place on the whole Earth Sunday, THE LIBRARY. My sanctuary, my oasis. Well I guess my oasis is not immune to stupidity either.
I found my books and went to check out. The not new employee says I owe 1.30 in fines. Ok, I don't remember getting a notice but whatever you say. I have only change on me so I count out a gold dollar and three dimes (quick, break out the calculator) and end my transaction. It isn't until I get home that I check the reciept and it says I only paid .80 cents. Huh?
I call the library. The Einstein that answers the phone listens to my story and when I tell her the amount of money I gave and the amount credited she says "yeah" all slow and drawn out. Are you freaking kidding me? I have to say, "A gold dollar is a dollar".
At this point my only place of refuge is destroyed.
I am heart sick.
I will also think long and hard about their tax levy's from now on. Are you sure you need money or did the Einstein do your books?
Ugh!

Mondays are always the fastest day to come to me. I feel like it's always Monday. What happened to lazy weekend days? They sure aren't shy about speeding out of my life. There, I had to release that.
Had an interesting conversation today at work. We have a certain lady we call "baggage". Now "baggage" is good about showing up to work, sometimes, and she sure can carry on a conversation no one cares about but can she work? No. We (my friend and I who do the same job as "baggage") have been carrying her load for quite some time. It is really old. Faced with no raises this year and an economy that tanked we feel everyone should carry their load at least some of the time. Posed this point to our shift supervisor and she said....and I quote, "People should mind their own buisness and do their job." Escuse me bitch? Speak into my clenched fist. I had to walk away before I got fired and possibly jailed on assault charges. Mind my own business. Well, I will. You know what my first order of minding my business is? Scheduled a meeting with the CFO of finance which is my boss, and Human Resources. You know why? You don't pay me nearly enough to take that rude crap from someone, let alone some power trippy wench that thinks her you know what doesn't stink. Move me. Fire me. I'm so over it. Starbucks sounds like my dream job right now. Actually, I'm thinking it's time to go back to school.
Had my son's birthday party this weekend. He turned 12. Punk. Who gave him the ok to grow up? I can't believe I look so young for having such old kids (LOL). My sister and her gaggle of children came up to celebrate with us. Her daughter was OFF her adhd meds. Oh my gosh. That child needs help. She screamed the whole time...ear shattering high pitched screams. She was accusing the kids of trying to kill her, hitting her, telling her she stinks etc. I sadly and personally believe she has been misdiagnosed with adhd when she has something larger going on there. Ruined the whole day. It was such a disaster. She hit my daughter repeatedly, where Hunter finally got pissed and dragged her to the ground by her hair. I'm talking like 3 hours into this fiasco. I didn't have the heart to yell too much at Hunt. I wanted to drop kick her shortly after her arrival. What was my sister thinking? She comes around once a year and this is what she brings me? Next year please just send a card.
I need a vacation. I need medicated. I think I'll settle for a beverage, a bath and then bed.

Too much Easter fun. Who said finding eggs was easy? I snapped this after dinner on Easter Sunday. He ate his plate, had a peep covered cupcake and then disappeared. This is where, and how I found him. They are so sweet when they sleep!
To add to their fun, they are on spring break this week. The weather has been especially nice so far, for which I'm thankful. Who wants a weeks worth of stir crazy bored kids? While I work and the Hubs sleeps they have been at their Grandmother's house "spring cleaning." They have to drag trash bags around the yard and collect debris, sticks, and old toys left out under the snow all winter. They are less than thrilled. So, after one day my daughter calls me at work and asks to have a friend spend the night. Whatever. Well, I have learned to screen friends now. We will just call her little girlfriend "most likely to be pregnant by 13!' Holy crap. The clothes alone scared me. She talked about stuff no eight year old should know of and when they decided to create a dance routine, I swear a close personal family member has got to be a stripper. There is no other explaination. Who lets their children act like that? Now this morning the youngest asked to have a friend over tonight. I know his friends. I'm good with that, and little boys are so different. They could give two hoots about clothes, just give them Matchbox, swords, flashlights, bugs, etc.....
I bought a Kindle a few weeks ago. I'm starting to LOVE the thing! No more waiting for new books to appear at the library. No more paying 25$ plus for new books I can't stand to wait on at the library. Instant access to the book I buy online. No downloading. Easy to keep at my desk with no one being the wiser. I still haven't figured out all the bells and whistles but, oh well. I may stop buying so many paper books. Probably not though. It's an addiction!

We dropped the dog off at the Vet's this morning. She will come back an "it". If "it" decides to run away again like she did yesterday she can stay away. The doggie Prozac was supposed to eliminate this behavior. It hasn't. If anything it has brought out a deviousness that she never had before. Yesterday she ran away. Right out of the door like a racehorse. As I am walking the neighborhood with my empty leash (looking deranged in anger, in my pj"s) she is sitting by the door patiently awaiting my return. She was saved a butt smaking by the neighbors out petting her. So lucky!
I am a cat person. Can you tell? I love dogs. They are pretty. They play. They are really cool to take places. That said, I never wanted to own one. They need more attention than babies. They need supervised bathroom visits. They eat EVERYTHING, even if it previously made them deathly ill. They want to be held, petted, stroked, fawned over. I have children that require less effort.
The Hubs almost lured me into a Great Dane yesterday. You might as well drive a bus through our living room, as I believe they are the same size. What the hell is wrong with me? Why would I even consider it? Because I love the Hubs and want him to be happy. Would I be with a horse in the house? No. Would I do it if I felt he really wanted the dog in the worst way? Yes. Pushover? Absolutely!
My cats, my "boys" are perfect. I know the Hubs likes dogs but I catch him making kissy sounds at the boys and his lap is first chosen from the cuddly one. I hear him talk to them as though they can respond and I hear him laughing as they tear through the house as though on fire. He isn't fooling anyone in our house, least of all me.

Was it just me or did anyone else miss the morning sunlight? I was getting used to having the sun and birds greet me as I get ready for work. Now, this morning, I am screwed up because of the time change, it's dark, and today it's extra gloomy because of the rain. Not my idea of spring!
Going to update the old resume tonight. I'm not ungrateful, I know I am lucky to still have a job BUT there is no excuse for what happens here. Anything would be better. So, I plan on trying one last time for a transfer and then if that fails I'm going to actively look for other employment. Or a disability. Laziness would be my first option! Wish me luck!

This is our (almost) finished living room. Big hug to the dog for holding the floor down there! Anyway I need to purchase curtains and a rug and something for the big blank wall there and I'll be done. My shopping trip is this weekend, so hopefully by Sunday I'll be finished! Notice the hideous stairway color? That is what our entire house looks like minus kitchen and living room. God I can't wait to begin the rest of the house!
I need some inspiration for the walls. I love outdoors so I'd like to stick with that theme but I can never pull it all together. One of my friends posted some pics of her books and I loved her decorating. Why can't I be that creative. Would it be rude to ask her to drive from Jersey to come help me? I'll pay for gas even!

Bigger House Please
My Husband Bought A Book. Not only did he buy one but he devoured it too, finishing it last night. I honestly didn't know the man could read! I'm shocked and excited all in one. He took it to work and read, he read after supper, he ignored me all last night with his nose shoved in his book. Must be what it feels like to live with me. He came home with five more books some guy lent him. If this keeps up we are going to be moving. Our house is not big enough to hold books for each of us. I KNOW how out of control my piles are, but if he starts too?!?!
Got up this morning and made Blueberry muffins for the kiddos. I have a burning desire to bake bake bake. It has increased tenfold since I started working out. Now that I try to limit the junk food intake the more I make it. My prego sis in law sends me ideas, I have emails just full of ideas, I dream of cake. Pudding cake to be exact. Witch. You know who you are lol! Oh, does carrot cake count as good? I forgot about that one!
Going to spend today being lazy. I'm just so tired of everything. I need to tan I think, even though I've never done it maybe the artificial sunshine would help. Although, my skin is pretty clear I would only be allowed in for three minutes MAX and that's defeating the purpose. Take me longer to get undressed! Actually, maybe I'll go for a walk, enjoy the birds coming to life here in Ohio. A sure sign of spring right?

Fantastic Friday
This has to have been the longest week ever! Just how many days are in a week anyway? 72? Can you tell I'm just not feeling it today? I've decided to give up work for Lent.
Looking forward to date night tonight! We don't get many. Last night Hubs mentioned Winking Lizard (beer and bar food) so I believe we are going there and then on to a movie. I mentioned Wolfman and he made a face so who knows what he's thinking. He loves the movie Drumline so in my opinion he has dumbass taste, if you can call that taste at all! I'll have to investigate further what is currently playing.
I'm looking forward to a nice long relaxing weekend with minimum effort from me. Lazy? Yes. Earned? Definately!

Addendum
I did get a Valentine gift. Hubby went out and bought a tear jerker card, a HUGE box of candy...the box sings...and a cosmo magazine to fuel my gossip and fashion obsession.
He does listen to my (not) so subtle hints.
I'm loved.
I got him a mushy squishy lovey card and a big set of chocolate lips. As much as he says he doesn't eat chocolate I guarantee they will be gone within the week.

February Blah's
I am completely over winter already. With the foot plus of snow we got over the weekend and the six to ten more projected for Tuesday, I'm done. Mother Nature is just showing off now. I'm bored. I'm tired of being inside. I've officially got the blah's now. I hate February. I need to look into taking a class or something because sitting here boo hooing isn't helping.
Valentine's Day is approaching. I've always found that to be an insane "holiday.". Is it a holiday? I think it's a created day for flower and candy companies. That said, if I don't get a card or something I'm going to be miffed. Nothing says I love you more than cold hard cash right? Kidding. Sort of. I want the thought even if I don't buy into the day.
I think I'm going to dust off the big heart shaped cutters and make cookies for the kids and their classmates. Pipe names in icing and add those wonderfully chalky hearts too. Maybe one for the hubby too. Do they make racier sayings on those hearts? Too much info?
Going to start putting my house in order in the coming months. We have been debating paint colors since we moved in and I've finally made some decisions. I have to live with paint chips on the walls forever before I run out and buy paint. I hate to paint so it is pretty permanant once I choose a color. My hubs says he is going to do "his room" in Chicago Bears colors...his favorite football team. Whatever. I don't have to see it and anyone coming over won't be subjected to it, so go crazy. I'm actually anxious to start, aka, be finished now. Lets get this over with so in the summer I can concentrate on my tan and laughing at my sister in law as she roasts that bun in the oven (been there, love ya!).
Ok, done rambling. Killed a few minutes. Going to go bake.

10. Having control of the tv for an evening
Now, I guess that wasn't so bad. Lets see what Lydia C says!

I am sooooo tired of being married to a spoiled child. There. Had to unload that. My husband was breast fed champagne and spoon fed caviar. Atleast he thinks so.
I made chili last night. Yum. I always make two different pots, one mild and one rip the lining out of your stomach HOT for the hubs. I have been making it this way for the 10 years we have been together.
Last night after dragging his ass out of bed an hour later than usual (he's on midnights) he comes down to eat. After crabbing because he has to walk downstairs to get crackers out of the pantry he goes
"Is there sausage in this?"
"Yes. The same sausage I always use to make the chili."
"You know I don't eat sausage."
" I made it the same way I always do."
"Which is why I never eat it!"
Now this is news to me. Who the hell has been sitting in my kitchen all these years eating my chili? Furthermore, why do I waste my time and ingredients on that person?
I didn't even have a snappy comeback. I was shocked that he would even say that to me because for years he has sat down to multiple bowls of chili when I make it.
Do you suppose he is shizophrenic? I'm starting to wonder.

Happy Day
My baby is six years old today. How did this happen? Where was I during all this?
I woke him up today singing the happy birthday song and shaking the bed, which produced a grin first thing. He then told me "I don't feel six yet!". I'm sure the ripe old age of six will creep up on him sometime today :]
Having my children grow older is so bittersweet. I want them to grow older, experience all life has to offer. In saying that, I want to snatch them to my chest and keep them young and with me forever. Is that possible? Weird?
With my first son, I was always so busy looking forward to the next milestone I feel I missed so much of the day to day stuff. Instead of being enthralled with Goodnight Moon I was stressed because he didn't get his first tooth as the parenting books said he should.
When my daughter came along I had more brains about me and spent time just watching her grow. It was liberating not following the parenting EXPERTS . I was so much more relaxed and just enjoyed her being her.
With my "baby" I just sat back and relaxed. He has had extensive hospitalizations due to asthma so I spent a ton of time with him, in the hospital, in the doctor office and just at home. As the last to go to school when I worked afternoons we spent lazy mornings watching cartoons in our jammies. It was just relax time. I just can't believe he's in school, bypassing his mother for his friends already.
It's a hard thing, but, there are so many other adventures waiting for me as the kids grow older. I have driving, prom, heartbreaks, college.....I guess I'll let them grow.
I woke him up today singing the happy birthday song and shaking the bed, which produced a grin first thing. He then told me "I don't feel six yet!". I'm sure the ripe old age of six will creep up on him sometime today :]

Feel the burn?
Working out is WAY HARDER than I ever thought. I guess all those previous trips to the gym (socially) I was doing it wrong. I HURT! Bad. I feel parts of my body that I didn't even know I had.
Today we are doing abs. Words every lazy girl like myself loves to hear! Are you kidding? Abs? I'm crying already. Tomorrow I will need a forklift to get myself out of bed, let alone move around to get ready for work!
Although.......after working yesterday and playing with the kids and dealing with the husband I was still going strong at 11p last night and I almost bounced out of bed this morning. Almost.
Tomorrow? Well I'd like Grande Tylenol cafe mocha please.

2010
Can you believe it is 2010? I remember being younger and thought I would be damn near dead at the age of 34 when 2010 swung around. Little did I know.
I have so much I want to accomplish this year. I hate to set resolutions because I never follow through but I do have some goals for this year...
1. Paint the inside rooms of my house- you know when you buy a new house and all walls are cream? Ours are green. Mint green. Every last one, except the kitchen that I painted last spring. I have lived in the house long enough and have mapped out every last room, even the baseboards. Not one room will be green!
2. Exercise. Iknow, I know everyone says that but I am not in it for weight loss (only a perk if I do lose) I just want to be able to play with my kids and stay up past 8:30p sometimes lol! My husband is going to the gym with me and it's nice, and easier to have someone with me. The lost pounds don't hurt either.
3. Relax. Take a breath and enjoy today for today, not what needs done, not what is happening tomorrow...just take each day anew and appreciate what I have in the right here right now.
4. Read what I enjoy. Through the marvelous ladies on Goodreads I have learned that it is ok to NOT finish a book if I don't enjoy it. I will live. The author will live. Life will go on if Rachelle does not finish a book. And, no more goals in reading. Yes, it was nice to know I read 100 books last year but I found myself reading "easy" fiction just to make the goal. No more. If i want to read 1000 pages in three months I will.
I guess that's all.
Maybe in 2020 I can look back at myself and be proud!
